What You’ll Be Able to Do
- Write efficient Python programs using core syntax, data structures, and functions
- Read and write files, handle exceptions, and work with CSV data
- Apply Object-Oriented Programming — classes, inheritance, polymorphism, encapsulation
- Use pip and virtual environments to manage external libraries (requests, numpy, pandas, matplotlib)
- Interact with databases using SQLite and build CRUD applications
- Perform data analysis and visualization with Pandas, and build a real-world capstone project
Prerequisites
- Basic computer knowledge; no prior programming experience required
- Familiarity with logical thinking and problem solving is helpful
Curriculum
Day 1
Introduction to Python & Python Fundamentals
- Python overview, environment setup, first program
- Variables & data types, input/output, type casting, operators
Labs: Install Python, run first program, build a simple calculator; temperature, area, and currency converters; assignment: employee salary calculator.
Day 2
Control Statements & Python Data Structures
- Conditionals, loops, loop control
- Lists, tuples, sets, dictionaries, nested structures
Labs: Number guessing game, multiplication tables, prime checker, ATM menu assignment; student record management, inventory tracker; contact management system assignment.
Day 3
Functions & Modules, Exception Handling & File Processing
- Function definitions, arguments, lambda functions, scope, modules (math, random, datetime)
- try/except/finally, common exceptions, file read/write/append, CSV files
Labs: Calculator using functions, random password generator; log file processor, student data file reader; expense tracker assignment.
Day 4
Object-Oriented Programming, Libraries & Package Management
- Classes, objects, constructors, encapsulation, inheritance, polymorphism, abstraction
- pip, virtual environments, popular libraries (requests, numpy, pandas, matplotlib)
Labs: Employee management system, banking application, library management system assignment; API consumption and data visualization examples.
Day 5
Database Programming, Data Analysis & Final Capstone
- SQLite CRUD operations, Python database connectivity
- Pandas: loading, cleaning, filtering, grouping, aggregation, and visualization (line/bar/pie charts)
- Capstone: Inventory Management System with CRUD, file handling, and exception handling
Labs: Employee database application, student database system assignment; sales analysis dashboard; final capstone build.
